Dr. Caney was born in Vancouver but grew up in Ecuador from a young age. He returned to Canada to carry out his post-secondary studies where he worked with adults and children with ADHD, carried out clinical research with patients with Parkinson’s Disease, and received his degree of Doctor of Dental Medicine from the University of British Columbia. He recently moved to Vancouver from Calgary with his wife and two young boys.
Dr. Caney makes it a high priority to have a straightforward conversation with all of his patients to make sure they understand their options and help them make the most appropriate treatment choice. Learning about various new technologies in dentistry through continued education is a focus for Dr. Caney as they can make a patient’s experience in the office more comfortable, help them better understand their oral health, and provide better results.
Dr. Geoffrey Dice was born and raised in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, and graduated from the University of Saskatchewan with Distinction in 2007. He practiced dentistry for five years in Saskatoon prior to moving to the West Coast to live with his partner. He is passionate about helping people and about providing compassionate, gentle care. His main areas of interest are pursuing a socially responsible practice, and empowering patients to improve and maintain excellent oral health as part of a whole practice of wellness with a strong focus on prevention. He attempts to bring a philosophy of ethical practice into his daily living.
In his spare time, Dr.Dice enjoys the outdoors, all things creative and artistic, singing, playing the piano, poetry, and long-distance running and yoga.
Dr. Jim Armstrong is a past president (2007/2008) of the British Columbia Dental Association representing all 3200 BC dentists and serving the 4 million plus BC residents. Jim is the BC representative on the Board of Directors of the Canadian Dental Association. Jim’s passions have been improving access to care for financially challenged segments of the population both in BC and Canada, with a special emphasis on expanding reduced fee clinics for low income seniors, children and families, and the homeless and indigent across all areas of BC. He is presently the Chairman of the Economics Committee for the BCDA as well as managing doctor of the Aarm Dental Group. Jim teaches dental students through the BCDA lecture series at UBC, and is also an Adjunct Professor in the Sauder School of Business at UBC where he teaches executive education programs for dentists.
When he has free time, it is spent with family, skiing and fishing. Jim continues his own post-graduate training in aesthetic and cosmetic dentistry in a post-graduate training program for now over 25 years.
Dr. Mark Fogelman is a graduate of the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, class of ’83. He owned a practice in Israel before moving to Vancouver and joining UBC Dentistry in 2004. Dr. Fogelman is a full-time Clinical Associate Professor at the faculty, teaching restorative dentistry courses and participating in curriculum development. Staying informed of scientific literature and evidence based dentistry is guiding him in providing the best dentistry has to offer to his patients, while being gentle and patient. His passion for teaching is reflected in how he educates his patients on their oral health.
Dr. Fogelman enjoys spending time with friends and family, cycling, and traveling.
