Dr. Gary Bains of Aarm Dental Group on Main. Vancouver dentistry

Dr. Bains, practicing dentistry seems to have been your calling from the very beginning. What inspired you to become a dentist?

The ability to drastically improve someone’s self confidence, while at the same time improving their health, has always been very appealing to me.

Throughout your career and continued education, your focus is extensive and has included: cosmetic dentistry, orthodontics, extractions, restorative dentistry, root canals, crowns, and bridges. What’s your favourite part of practicing dentistry?

Apart from the actual dental work, my favourite part of practicing dentistry is the longterm relationships built with patients.

It’s common for patients to have some unknowns associated with dentistry and oral health. Could you expand on a common misconception about dentistry?

That going to the dentist is only necessary when something is hurting

Invisalign and Oral Surgery

At Aarm Dental Group we’re thrilled to support and accept the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP), could you please explain the benefits of CDCP and it’s impact in terms of increasing access to dental care and oral health?

The CDCP allows patients to address dental concerns before their options become limited to removal of teeth

At Aarm Dental Group, our motto is “Patient-Centered Dental Care”, how do you personify this mantra in your day to day practice?

My goal is to educate my patients of all of the options available to them, and help them decide what is best for them

Outside of dentistry, what inspires you?

Food - I enjoy trying all types of food and would hate to have my teeth be the reason why I can’t eat what I want
